Brains is a card game for 2-5 players from Jellybean Games. In the game you command an army of undead trying to collect enough treasures than your opponents to win the game. The game is small enough to fit in your pocket and plays in about 10 minutes.
In the game each player has 3 sets of cards to handle, their Graveyard, their score pile, and their hand. Cards in the graveyard may have an immediate effect upon entering it or an ongoing effect that can affect the player as long as the card is on top of the graveyard. Players also play cards into The Pit, a face up pile next to the draw pile.
On a players turn they may take one of three actions:
Draw: Players draw two cards and put them in their hand from the draw pile
Play: Players may play a card from their hand into The Pit to perform that cards action or into their score pile for its treasure value.
Bury: Players may take the top card from the draw pile and place it on the top of their graveyard.
Play continues in this fashion until one player has a score of 21 after which all other players get one last turn to try and stop them. If another player is successful in reducing the player’s score play continues, otherwise that player wins the game.
Brains is the third game in the Treasure series of games from Jellybean Games following their other two hit games Scuttle and Ninjitsu. The game was a lot of fun and we all had a blast playing it with the team wanted to play it immediately after finishing each game. Brains is currently on Kickstarter and can be found Here.
I liked the concept of this game, it was a lot of fun especially the cards that allowed you to take away another player’s score cards so you never knew when the game could end. The artwork was really cool and the zombies looked really funny. My favorite card was the plunger because it was funny but also a great card.
I liked this game a lot, especially that the game went pretty quickly most of the time. I liked the ‘take that’ aspect of the game especially near the end when everyone was scrambling to stop a player from winning. I liked the artwork, it was fun to look at. I strongly recommend this game.
